Ruby's Quails

Ruby brought her pet quails into visit us this morning. They were a big hit with everyone, even though they did their business on Theo and Saffron (whoops).

Founders Market

Thanks so much to all the students and parents who helped out on the stall on Sunday! $1500 was raised to go towards a big TV for the hall.

Student Led Teaching

On Wednesday Otto led his Maths group in a workshop on fractions (while Julieanne observed our student teacher). He did such a great job that Julieanne is afraid she might lose her position...??  Well done Otto!

Riding the Bus

On Friday, Lauren, Nicola and Julieanne jumped on the bus after school to see where it goes each day. We loved it! Wow! Our students and families are so lucky to live in such beautiful countryside. Pete, the bus driver, was an awesome tour guide! I think we will have to ride the bus again very soon.

Lego Creations

Many of our students in Turama love creating with Lego. Here are two designs from the past week.

House Programme

Students took part in in a Technology Challenge where they had to build a bridge that could take a 750g weight. Their only materials were newspaper, two magazines, string and tape.

The Sand Truck Arrived!

On Friday there was GREAT excitement when a truck arrived full of sand for our sandpit. Everyone gathered around to watch and then a team of students from Turama helped Grant to carry it all over to the sandpit. Great work team!

Enterprise - Making Soap and Bath Bombs

On Thursday we had a team of students busy making soap and bath bombs for Enterprise. Leah and Kiri, two of our senior students, were fantastic leaders! They took charge and made sure everyone knew the recipe and could follow the instructions correctly. We also had Leah's Mum, Tessa, helping out as well as Jamie's Mum, Abby.  Our hall has never smelt so good!

Maths - Finding Patterns & Making Connections

Turama students are very good at working together to solve problems, particularly during Maths lessons. Here are some photos of students looking for patterns in a recent Maths task.

Singing

Each Friday morning we enjoy singing songs together. This morning some of our Year 5 students led us in their Rock da House songs.

Enterprise

Turama and Ramaroa students have been using their 'thinking lights' to come up with ideas of products to sell at a Christmas Market. The purpose is to make money so we can buy a huge TV screen for our hall so we can share our learning more effectively. Today each group presented their idea back to everyone. Many groups had made prototypes to share and were able to tell us how much profit we could make from selling their product. Now it's time to vote to see which products will make the top 5 for us to make next term... Watch this space!
